Back in April 2007, we reported that an unmarked silver Chrysler 300 was was involved in an accident on the streets of Ft. Lauderdale while answering to a shooting call. However, the undercover police officer failed to have the pursuit lights on while speeding to the destination. As a result, he ended up killing Donald Perry a 49 year old man. The unmarked police car struck the pedestrian so violently that it dismembered the victim’s legs in front of by-standing witnesses.

Two years after the tragedy, the city of Ft. Lauderdale has settled with the relatives of the victim for $65,000. This small price does not seem to reimburse the undercover officer’s negligent mistake. At the same time, the police officer that caused the horrible accident has been cleared of any wrong doing.

Looks like another fake undercover cop is having fun in Uniontown, PA. It was a Wednesday morning on December 31, 2008 when a woman told cops that a undercover officer almost hit her car, and proceeded to forced her off the road. The fake unmarked police car was described as a sport utility vehicle. As the woman pulled over, the suspect identified himself as a police office while cursing at the victim and driving off. Police later said the same impersonating unmarked cop had also forced another vehicle off the road earlier that day.

The Uniontown Police stated that the involved SUV was not an undercover police vehicle, and that it did not have emergency pursuit lights. Why these two victims pulled over for a vehicle with no emergency strobe lights is a wonder but should also be a lesson to everyone.

“Fuck you, San Diego” is what the county Sheriff’s Department had in mind when they decided to assign at least four high-rank officials with upgraded vehicles at the taxpayer’s expense. How many of these vehicles were purchased are not yet known. Deputy Sheriff Bill Gore from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is one of the few and proud driving the new Dodge Chargers, equipped with a V8 Hemi engine and leather seats in the price range of $32k and $35k that was paid by for by the people. Compare that to $24k spent on Ford Five Hundreds for the rest of the administrative staff. It also seems they are attempting to mislead the public by not placing the standard California Exempt registration tags on the back of these cars, indicating they were paid with tax dollars. They are not even undercover police vehicles, just transportation for important officials such as the IT Chief and the Sheriff himself.

Even though police officials from other counties expressed their dislike for the San Diego police department’s decision, Deputy Bill Gore stands by their choice to use whatever tags they want, whether or not his car will be used for investigations. They also stated they were testing the cars to see if they were suitable as a fleet vehicle for the department. After consideration, they decided that they were not. They did not mention anything about giving the cars back or recuperating the excess money spent on these cars in the first place. We’re almost sure they are still driving them today. Shame on you San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for telling San Diego to go fuck yourself.

It sounds like another case of the public witnessing one thing and the police admitting another. Two drivers have been hospitalized in Flint, Michigan after a high speed chase ending in an accident was witnessed by other drivers. One motorists recalls looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a police chase. The suspect fleeing from the police was driving a silver Monte Carlo when he collided with a black pickup truck at a major intersection. Police say the 21 year-old suspect was involved in a drug deal just moments before the accident. Several witnesses stated an undercover narcotics officer was chasing the Monte Carlo but the police say undercover officers were blocks away at the time of the accident. Somebody is not telling the truth.

It seems Florida is a hot state with police trolling everywhere. Many drivers are accustomed to casually spotting an undercover cop car and it appears the police are trying anything to stay ahead of the game. In Port Charlotte, the police is going as far as mimicking a homeless man who is actually a deputy waiting to signal a further awaiting officer to make the traffic stop. This is just one of the new techniques being used by Charlotte County Police in Florida to ticket unsuspecting motorists that speed or run red lights. Other odd hidings were done from inside a boat mounted on a trailer where the cops clocked passing speeders. While the residents of the town call their tactics unfair, the police are unapologetic and hope the uncommon practice will get people talking. Well it worked at over here at UndercoverCopCars!

Australian residents should keep their eyes peeled for more than just the standard cop. According to The Daily Telegraph, an NSW Police initiative has enabled the police to patrol the streets with any automobile. Though the Australian police force has used unmarked cars in the past, they have recently acquired late model, high performance vehicles such as the Ford Falcon Typhoon and Suburu Impreza WRX. The aussie cops are even going as far as choosing cars with the latest accessories and odd colors to blend in with the speeders and other “hoodlums.” They are also going the other route and deploying older, worn-down cars in effort to completely catch perpetrators with their guard down. The officers have been doing such a good job in disguising their vehicles that there are reports of other drivers pulling up aside them and trying to race; that is until they see a police officer behind the wheel. The police force has been slowly adding 50 additional patrol vehicles as of March 2007 when the State Government announced further funding. At the time of the article, the aussies authorities believed their effort was starting to make a difference with street racing and other illegal activities but admitted it would take longer to reveal the actual effectiveness of their strategy.

Remember that case in New York when undercover police officers killed an unarmed man before his wedding by shooting over 40 rounds? Well a State Supreme Court Judge denied the defense lawyer’s motion to dismiss the case. While this is a good step, the trial is still far from being over. Sean Bell, who was 23, was killed on November 25, 2006 because undercover police officers thought the was reaching for a gun. A following investigation revealed the victim and his party were unarmed. Recalling from an interview that I saw at the time of the shooting, though Sean Bell never got a chance to get married, his girlfriend still undertook his last name.

We were away for a while and are stunned to return to write a post about an undercover police officer that ran over and killed a pedestrian. This time the police officer was driving an unmarked silver Chrysler 300. The accident was a violent one, dismembering the victim’s legs. The atrocity happened in the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was witnessed by many. Bystanders told reporters that no pursuit lights were used and the unmarked cop car was traveling at excessive speeds, though the police refuse to officially comment if the pursuit lights were being used at the time of the accident. Authorities state the officer was responding to a shooting call but witnesses were skeptical to that explanation. The victim was later pronounced dead at Broward General Hospital.

I was watching the news the other day and saw what I would never imagine, 50 Cent got arrested! Apparently he made an unsafe lane change in New York while driving his chrome Lamborghini. Too bad for 50 Cent he didn’t have any proof of insurance, vehicle registration or a valid driver’s license. I guess when you’ve got things to do like chrome your Lamborghini, you don’t have time for paperwork. According to some reports, he did have two loaded weapons in the car. This shouldn’t be that much trouble for Fiddy, he was probably out of jail quicker than a drunk Paris Hilton. So a lesson to anyone driving without proper vehicle documentation or a chomed-out Lamborghini, watch out for undercover cop cars.
